Rosacea Triggers Exercise - Exercise can cause flares and an exercise program can control Rosacea in the long term.
We all know that exercise and keeping healthy is good for general health and controlling stress, but exercise can cause Rosacea flares. So how can we achieve a balance of healthy exercise without flare ups.
Here are some hints on how to include exercise in your overall plan to beat Rosacea:
Firstly, develop and plan an ongoing exercise program with pre-determined goals. Most modern gyms employ or have access to biokinetists. These guys/gals are trained to develop programs to deal with your physical situation (including Rosacea).
Swimming is one of the best forms of exercise - low impact, high workout rate - and swimming exercises almost all the muscles in the body. The water is normally cooler (or at body temperature) which helps to keep your face cool.
You should exercise when the temperature is best - is Summer early morning or late evenings, when it is cool and in Winter, mid-day is probably better. This can be a problem if you don't have flexible work hours.
Take it easy - 40 minutes of moderate exercise, everyday is better than no exercise and better than going "hell for leather" and injuring yourself.
Drink lots of water - visit the water fountain regularly or bring your own bottle of purified water.
Breathe properly - it is essential to get a professional (biokenetist or trainer) to help you with setting up your training program to get the basics right. Incorrect breathing can cause a build up of blood pressure in the face and flushing.
Monitor your situation - if exercise is causing major flushing that takes too long to recover - you might need to reconsider the exercise option.
My advice is to develop an exercise program with a qualified biokenetist (not a gym instructor), set pre-determined goals (taking into account your Rosacea situation and limitations) and monitor your reactions as you go along.
Bottom Line - I think exercise is an essential part of good health.
